March 11, 2019 | WICKER PARK HOT SPOTS
You know the line in Shrek where Donkey says everybody loves parfaits? Well, I’ve always thought that line should be changed to tacos. I mean, really, who doesn’t love a good taco? Hard shell, soft shell, vegetarian, stuffed with steak…there’s a taco for everyone.
In the Wicker Park neighborhood, we’re lucky to be surrounded by many Taco Tuesday (or taco any day, let’s be real) options. Here are a few of our favorites.
Antique Taco. 1360 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60622. Not only does Antique Taco have the cutest interior, but the restaurant also features a menu full of delicious taco options. Some staff favorites include the garlic shrimp taco, the market mushroom taco, and the tortilla soup. Minority and female owned, Antique Taco is proud to source many local ingredients, make fresh tortillas on-site daily, and squeeze their own fruit juices for their creative signature cocktails. Located just a block away from the Wicker Park Inn, this place is a must-try!
Big Star. 1531 N Damen Ave, Chicago, IL 60622. During the warmer months, there’s nothing better than grabbing a beer and some tacos from Big Star. The Wicker Park location, right by the Damen Blue Line stop, has a large patio for you to sit outside and soak I the sun and good vibes. Their carne asada taco and tostada de hongos are absolutely delicious, but no matter what you order, we’re pretty sure you can’t go wrong.
Picante Taqueria. 2018 W Division St, Chicago, IL 60622. A little bit further away from the Inn, Picante Taqueria is another great option. Get a glass of horchata to go with you chicharron or fish taco. This is the spot for you if you’re looking for a frills-free authentic taqueria experience.
Have another favorite? We’re all ears! We’re always looking for the next best taco. Leave us a comment with your favorite taco spot and your go-to order.
